Jim and Sandy moved into their 1937 Key West cottage almost five years ago, immediately after their son graduated from Spanish River High School in West Boca Raton. The Parrot Cove neighborhood provided them with the type of community they wanted and this house was everything they hoped for.
Jim is a flute teacher and performer and Sandy has worked for many years in the foliage business and is an accomplished artist. They both have worked many years in the antique business, both in the Virgin Islands and Maryland. Visit their booth at the Yesterdays Antique Mall, specializing in books and art.
What do they love about their home? Sandy found a "blank canvas" yard to design. After installing the hot tub, she set to work planning an easy to care for and beautiful garden without a lawn but with many areas to hide and relax in. The Sun-Sentinel spotted her work and ran a three page feature on their unique garden a few years ago.
Jim found the old garage at the rear of the property which he converted into a music studio and he found local venues in Lake Worth where he performs You can still find the fireplace, the wooden floors, the lovely arches, and the interesting tile work in their home reflecting the creative and open atmosphere of Lake Worth.
The back sunroom was added in the 1960's and is a favorite spot for them to spend time. The 1,475 square foot easy to maintain home, together with Sandy’s garden and Jim’s studio, offer many areas where they can reflect upon their good fortune.
