411 North O Street

Dori and Aaron purchased the two structure property located at 411 North O Street in 2004. The 3 bedroom/2 bath home, built in 1925, is a Mediterranean Revival style structure. The home has its original Dade County pine floors. The centerpiece of the living room is the fireplace which, along with the entry way, has decorative tile common to the Mediterranean Revival style homes of the 20’s.

The Spanish Mission carriage house was also built in 1925. There is a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment on the second floor of the carriage house. The first floor of the carriage house is used as a garage and work shop.

Aaron and Dori recently replanted their front and courtyard gardens with turf and plants that are sustainable, requiring less water and upkeep. The lawn is planted with a Bermuda grass called Celebration which is drought-tolerant. Ornamental features in the courtyard include a fountain, two Haitian oil drum art pieces (a Sunburst on the wall of the carriage house and a Lizard on the wall of the main house), and a unique Tiki head. A beautiful Royal Poinciana tree grows on the north side of the courtyard.

Dori’s family connection to Lake Worth dates back to the 1940’s. Her maternal great-grandparents, James and Golda Donahue, lived on the 300 block of North M Street from the 1940s until James’ death in 1962. A photo of James Donahue, sporting a tuxedo and smoking a cigar, hangs on the living room wall among other family photos.
