Past Events                     Congratulations to the Parrot Cove competitors in the July 4^{th raft race contest. Parrot Cove didn’t win the Grunge Cup, but none of the 13 entries had more fun than us! Madlyn McKendry, who headed the project, chose Three Blind Mice as the theme for the raft (the overall theme was nursery rhymes). Parrot Cove residents, easily spotted because of their parrot hats, Parrot Cove shirts and other parrot gear, were part of the crowds on the docks and along the waterfront.Madlyn McKendry, Diana and Glenn Scheiner, Valerie Tipton, Marty Welfeld and Teresa Miller created the design and costumes using items ranging from cast-offs found in the alleys to dog toys. Bob D’Arinzo used his truck to transport the raft in the parade prior to the event then on to the Bryant Park boat launch. The paddlers were Glenn Scheiner, dressed as the farmer’s wife, Bill Null, Brian Gleason and David Null who were the mice.}
